Summer is ending and with it my desire for bright colored nails. as i prepare my fall wardrobe of navy, burgundy, beiges an deep greens I want toned down nails to complement the lot. I understand that finding the right nude can be a difficult task because contrary to what most magazines publish, a nude that works on a fair skinned, blond haired blue eyes woman does absolutely nothing for me as i m on the opposite side of the spectrum. After a bit of research ( by research i mean harrassing family and friends via text message )
i was able to combine a list of a few nail polishes that broadly covers a wide spectrum of skintones. We all know that with every colors comes hues, shades and nuances so maybe some of you might not find anything that works for you so please if you have recommendations let me know i will gladly add them to this list.

Tips on finding the right nude:
- If you have fair skin, try a creamy pinkish nude with blue or yellow undertones to counteract redness in your skin
- If your skin tone is medium, look for polish colors with a warm base that are similar to your skin tone. Try metallics, but you should avoid anything that's too silvery because the coolness will clash with your natural warm undertone
- For darker skintones go for dark caramels, taupes, chocolate or coffee-colored hues. The deeper your skin, the darker the nude should be. Try to stay away from light pinks or very pale shades with a lot of white. That said i love light pinks like spaghetti strap from essie, it is definitely not a nude for me but does give a nice clean sober finish. I think that if you are dark skinned and going for those light colours try to pick a very sheer polish that makes all the difference.
- you are olive skinned? Instead of basic beige, look for one with gold undertones, which will make your skin look brighter and livelier. Just make sure to avoid anything too pale, which will make your skin look washed out.
- When trying on a nude polish ,check your cuticle (the skin around your nails) the polish should be the color of your skin, if the shade is wrong for you your cuticle looks pronounced.
